Cookie Policy
1.About This Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how EA Architecture (operating as Elmira Aghsaei Architecture, "we," "our," or "us") uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on the website located at eadesign.ca (the "Website"). This policy supplements our Privacy Policy and should be read together with it.
By continuing to use the Website, you acknowledge our use of cookies as described in this policy. Where consent is required by law, we will request it through a cookie banner or equivalent mechanism before non-essential cookies are placed.
2.What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your browser or device when you visit. Cookies allow a website to recognize your device, remember preferences, support session continuity, and gather statistical data about how the site is used.
This policy also applies to similar technologies that perform functions comparable to cookies, including:
- Local storage and session storage (browser storage mechanisms)
- Web beacons and pixel tags (small graphic elements that signal a page or email has been viewed)
- Device fingerprinting techniques that identify a device based on its configuration
In this policy, "cookies" refers collectively to all of the above unless the context indicates otherwise.
3.Categories of Cookies We Use
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are required for the Website to function. They support core features such as page navigation, security, load balancing, and access to secure areas. They do not require consent under PIPA or PIPEDA because the Website cannot operate without them.
3.2 Performance and analytics cookies
These cookies collect information about how visitors use the Website — pages viewed, time spent, navigation paths, referral sources, and approximate geographic location. The information is used in aggregated form to help us understand usage patterns and improve the Website. We do not use this information to identify individual visitors.
3.3 Functionality cookies
These cookies remember choices you make (such as language, region, or display preferences) to provide a more personalized experience. They are not required for the Website to function but improve usability.
3.4 Third-party cookies
When you interact with embedded content from third-party platforms — including Calendly, Instagram, LinkedIn, and any video, mapping, or social-sharing widgets — those platforms may set their own cookies. These cookies are governed by the privacy and cookie policies of the respective third parties. We do not control how third parties use the data they collect.
We do not currently use advertising or marketing cookies. Should this change, we will update this policy and request consent before deploying any such cookies.
4.Specific Third-Party Services
The following third-party services may set cookies or similar technologies when you interact with them through the Website. Each service has its own privacy and cookie policy:
- Calendly (consultation booking) — calendly.com/privacy
- Instagram (Meta Platforms, embedded content and social links) — privacycenter.instagram.com
- LinkedIn (embedded content and social links) — linkedin.com/legal/cookie-policy
This list may change over time. We will update this policy when we add or remove third-party services that use cookies.
5.Duration of Cookies
Session cookies are temporary and are deleted automatically when you close your browser.
Persistent cookies remain on your device for a set period or until manually deleted. The retention period depends on the specific cookie. Persistent cookies set by EA Architecture do not exceed 14 months. Cookies set by third parties are retained for the period determined by those parties.
6.Legal Basis
Under PIPA and PIPEDA, we use cookies on the basis of:
- Implied consent for strictly necessary cookies
- Express consent for performance, functionality, and third-party cookies, where required by applicable law
Where consent is required, we request it through a cookie banner or equivalent mechanism on your first visit. You may change or withdraw your consent at any time using the methods described in Section 7.
7.Managing Cookies
You have several options for managing cookies:
7.1 Cookie banner
If a cookie banner is presented on the Website, you may use it to accept or decline non-essential cookies, and to change your selection later through the same mechanism.
7.2 Browser settings
All major browsers allow you to view, delete, and block cookies through their settings:
- Google Chrome: chrome://settings/cookies
- Apple Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Mozilla Firefox: about:preferences#privacy
- Microsoft Edge: edge://settings/privacy
- Mobile browsers: see device settings or browser-specific guidance
7.3 Third-party opt-outs
Many third-party services offer their own opt-out mechanisms through their privacy settings or industry tools such as the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada (youradchoices.ca).
7.4 Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" feature. There is no consistent industry or legal standard for how websites must respond to Do Not Track signals. Our Website does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals; we instead rely on the consent and preference mechanisms described above.
If you block all cookies, parts of the Website may not function correctly.
8.Children
The Website is directed to adults. We do not knowingly use cookies to collect information from children under 13. See Section 13 of our Privacy Policy.
9.Related Policies
This Cookie Policy supplements our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. Where there is a conflict between this policy and the Privacy Policy regarding the handling of personal information, the Privacy Policy controls.
10.Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, the Website, or applicable law. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes affecting non-essential cookies will trigger a renewed consent request through the cookie banner.
